Collecting the light of the setting sun was one of the key design considerations. Built on a northward slope, the appearance of the house is dominated by the high placement of the windows. As the incoming light starts bathing the natural wood surfaces, a peculiar atmosphere takes over the interior. The house is dominated by six joined supporting arches, while the brick-clad walls, fragmented at the edges, rise out of a rocklike andesite structure. The sharp crystalline back end of the house enhances the sense of dynamism. Radiating disciplined power and playfulness at the same time, the interior is a complex combination of angles, levels and surfaces.
