Savings Bank
Budakalász, 2004

The constructed environment reflects the collective memory of the community. As Master Architect of Budakalász, Attila Turi made sure that his public buildings resonate with local traditions. When the former blacksmith's shop was renovated and transformed into the savings bank, its characteristic L-shape and basic proportions were left untouched. With its delicate details, roofing, plastering, warm tinting and wooden paneling, the building has become an integral part of local tradition, while gaining a contemporary appearance. The same method is applied to every single building—breaking down the structure to a human scale.

The cornerstone of preserving traditions is ensuring that the result is local and modern in the same time.
