Motto:
Teaching by building

Pane 1

In the 80s, a group of university students that included Attila Turi were looking for alternative ways to acquire their profession of choice. They turned to Imre Makovecz for help, who realized that the one thing the students needed to do was build. More specifically, they needed to create designs, select the best one and build it with their own hands, to get familiar with the materials and the entire process of construction. It was along these lines that the new Visegrád camps were formed in the context of the courses in organic architecture held by Attila Turi. The location is the same—Visegrád and Sárospatak, but the times and the medium are different.  Today, excessive abundance and the chaos of information has the same effect of wanting to have a safe heaven. The solution hasn't changed over time; the method that does not focus on the created object, but on the drama and the power behind creation, able to build lasting communities.

Pane 2

In the old times, young people used to build for themselves. Today, they do it for the community, such as playgrounds for children, courtyards and gardens for high schools or the chapel of remembrance in Devecser, intended for those who seek to start all over again. Since the created objects serve others, the story and the needs of the public appears as a new element in the process of construction. As their experience grows, builders realize that all their work serves the entire community, by uplifting their spirit, and, by doing so, they themselves gain a legitimate feeling of pride and a sense of coperation.
