Magyarpolány, 2007

Magyarpolány is one of the Hungarian villages where the traditional uniform image of the settlement still survives, here and there. Although the illusion of time travel is quickly dispelled by contemporary constructions, there is a basic need for our homes to reflect pieces of our collective memory. The cornerstone of preserving traditions is ensuring that the result is local and modern in the same time. For tradition is preserved best by those who dare, respectfully, to use it as a source of inspiration, and not by those who merely imitate it. Build on the edge of the village, the complex unites the residential area (rooms) and the shed (living room) under a curved roof.
