Pilisszentlászló, 2000

Standing on sloping ground that is abundant with ancient trees, the building playfully unites smart architectural solutions and suitably selected materials. The plan was not driven by compulsive symmetry, equal window axis distances or a chessboard-like arrangement, but transparency, adaptation to the terrain and a close connection with nature. The simple layout facilitates the flow of everyday life by placing the kitchen in the center, adjoined by a two-storey living room and study, while the bedrooms are located on the second floor. Designed with large glass surfaces, a conservatory connects the living room and the south-facing terrace. The two sections, joined at the chimney, were constructed using different materials—local stone and reused brick. As a sign of appreciation for traditional craftsmanship, hundreds of old stamped bricks and ceramic ornaments were embedded in the wall and the wood, respectively. The unique, inspirational atmosphere of the interior, the furnishings, the surfaces, the textiles and all the cozy details were added by the lady of the house, who is the saviour and healer of all these objects and fragments.
